Cameo Paysage Glass. Paysage literally translates to landscape. Makers such as Émile Gallé and Daum of Nancy used cameo glass techniques to make some beautiful glass items depicting landscape scenes during the Art Nouveau era.
Below are some examples and price guides of Art Nouveau cameo paysage glass items including a Gus Crystal Works vase and a Daum “Winter Landscape” vase.
Daum vase ‘Windswept trees in wind and rain’
‘Rain’ is one of the best-known designs found on cameo (overlay) glass produced in the French Art Nouveau style at the turn of the 20th century. Applied to a wide range of vases, it was issued by Daum Freres, a leading French glassworks managed by brothers Auguste and Antonin from the School of Nancy (L’ecole de Nancy), a group of highly-creative designers led by Emile Galle from his studio in Nancy, Lorraine, until his death in 1904.
