Porcelain Bowls. Art Nouveau porcelain bowls can be very collectible. There are many different types of bowl, from soup bowls to centerpieces. Elaborate ones would often feature mythical creatures such as mermaids and fairies. Shells were also a popular design feature from that era.

Bowl in semi-soft biscuit porcelain, smear glazed. It is of highly sculptural form and incorporates the figures of a merman and mermaid.
Made by the Royal Porcelain Factory, Berlin, 1898
The Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin adopted art nouveau relatively late, but it made an outstanding display of pieces in this manner at the 1900 exhibition. Many, including this bowl, were highly sculptural, as the factory had developed a semi-soft porcelain body which could be modelled as easily as clay and which took glazes particularly well.(1987-2006)
