Silver

Information and price guide to Art Nouveau silver, including, silver plate and sterling items.

To be classed as sterling there has to be at least a content of 92.5% silver. The rest consists of other metals, usually copper. Reference: Wikipedia

Silver plate was much cheaper as less silver was used. The base metal is often nickle or copper.
